AbstractSierra de Tamaulipas is surrounded by xeric thorny scrub of Gulf Coastal Plain and isolated from main front of Sierra Madre Oriental. A belt of arid pine-oak woods covering its higher slopes forms an environmental island of temperate forest for certain animals which reached this habitat from Sierre Madre. Geology, weather, vegetation, and faunal notes of area are discussed. Lists of the spp. of mammals, amphibians, and birds are included. || ABSTRACT AUTHORS: T. W. Porter
