The parietal and supraoccipital are similar to those of Leptolepis and other primitive teleosts. The suborbital is the smallest known in teleosts; it differs from that of other teleosts and holosteans in not contacting the dermopterotic or pterotic, the supratemporal or infraorbital 3. The pattern of the parietals and the supraoccipital, the presence of a suborbital, extension of the infraorbital sensory canal onto the antorbital and the presence of 2 postsupracleithra and 6 postcleithra are primitive features within teleosts. Two postsupracleithra and 6 broad postcleithra with crenulated posterior border form an unique series within teleosts.</p>
<issue></issue><accession-num></accession-num><notes></notes><custom1></custom1></record></records></xml>
