| Abstract | The 5 nominal species of the austral South American fish genus Hatcheria are indistinguishable. H. macraei (Girard) is redescribed; H. burmeisteri (Berg), H. patagoniensis Eigenmann, H. pique Mac Donagh and H. titcombi Eigenmann are placed in synonymy with this species using meristic and morphometric data. Notes on observed morphological variation and ecological preferences, and the biogeography of H. macraei are included. |
